How We Helped the Kalgoorlie Boulder Community Keep Rolling

The City of Kalgoorlie Boulder reached out to us with a problem, and it was one we couldn’t ignore. Their main skatepark was about to get a massive upgrade, which was awesome, but it also meant shutting it down for months. No ramps. No rails. No ledges. No coping. Nothing.

We knew what that would mean for the skaters, BMX riders, and scooter kids in town…  nowhere to ride, no sessions to hit, no place to hang out, and worst of all, no fun. They needed a temporary solution to keep the wheels rolling, and that’s where we came in.

When Kalgoorlie Boulder’s council got in touch, they already had a vision. They wanted a temporary skatepark that worked for everyone - skaters, BMX riders, scooter kids, and rollerbladers alike.
They envisioned a park with a custom mini ramp, a couple of rails, and the ability to integrate some ramps and obstacles we’d previously supplied, to make the most of what they already had. It had to be durable, weatherproof, and solid enough to get the local riders hyped.
Oh, and it all needed to be done before the school holidays. Tight timeline? No problem, that’s exactly what we do.

We got straight to work designing a custom setup that would give the community exactly what they needed. At the heart of the park was a Customised Mini Ramp that riders of all levels could shred - based on our 4 ft high x 16 ft wide Extreme Outdoor Mini Ramp .
Here’s what made it next level:

To round out the park, we also supplied a Square Flat Rail and Round Flat Rail,  new black composite skate surfaces for the existing 2’ Quarter Pipes, Fun Box, and Manual Pad.

We provided updated hardware and fixings to ensure these elements fit seamlessly into the new layout.

We delivered the entire Mini Ramp kit and extra components packaged, labelled, and ready to assemble with step-by-step assembly instructions. Every piece was designed to fit perfectly, so when it came time to build there were no headaches.

The crew from Buildup Skateboarding led the charge on assembly, with help from passionate local volunteers. Watching everyone come together to bring the park to life was one of those moments that reminds us why we love what we do.

In just over a day, the ramps were fully assembled, installed, and ready to ride.

With the park completed ahead of schedule, and it didn’t take long for the locals to make it their own. The custom mini ramp became an instant favourite, while the new round flat rail, square flat rails, and upgraded Quarter Pipes, Fun-Box, and Manual Pad added even more variety to the mix.

The pop-up skate park has become a hub for the community with regular events, competitions, and daily sessions keeping the energy high & proving how important skateparks are for bringing people together.
The City of Kalgoorlie Boulder stepped up to support their youth, and we were super happy to play our part in making it happen.

Skateparks aren’t just about ramps and rails, they’re about community. They’re where kids go to learn tricks, make friends, and build confidence. They’re places that inspire creativity and progression.
Kalgoorlie Boulder’s council wanted to make sure their community had somewhere to call home while the main park was out of action, and we’re stoked that we could help them keep the community rolling.
